Love the velocker. One of many ways that the little electric assist of an e-bike can be a game changer for making cycling practical (& fun!) for many more people for many more trips. More on e-bikes at www.climateaction/ebike

Thanks for bringing up human behavior and the problem of inertia. I hope that we pay more attention to how we live as the most lasting way to address the climate, biodiversity loss and our other crises. As you imply, context is paramount to our behavior. Our way of life is often the product of the physical, cultural and social conditions that surround our transportation, food, energy, consumer goods, etc. choices. With the right policies and infrastructure, we can change those conditions to better support pro-environmental, pro-social behaviors.

I agree with you completely about heat pumps. I would like to mention a potential issue that I would love to know how to deal with. I live in an older mobilehome park. When I needed to replace my heater last year I got some bids on a heat pump. One was from a sales guy who knew nothing about the technical requirements of the system. the other was from a contractor who went straight to the main breaker, saw it was 50 amps, and said that just wouldn't work if we wanted to run anything besides the heater. He said it was typical of the older parks in our area to have limited electrical distribution. It's also typical that the owners have no desire to pay to modernize the wiring. So, how to incentivize them?
