On days when I begin to doubt if the hard work of activism makes a difference, I will remember today. Thank you Bill for your exceptional generosity and unwavering presence. Hope you got home safe & can take the night off!
Yay, movement! (I never told you this, but I grew up eating and breathing Elgin Baylor and Jerry West's Lakers, so this picture momentarily killed the buzz for me. But only for a second :)
Huge thanks to all who organized so effectively against Sen. Manchin’s worship of Big Oil. So treat to see this be removed, at least for now.
I think about pipeline leaks and climate disasters every day - my back yard white oaks have been decimated by tornadoes three times in the last three years, including a first - a tornado in December in Minnesota. When we should be seeing snow and cold, and visits from the Polar Vortex, not hot weather storms. Not to mention the damage to my house that my insurance company sought to deny. Gads!
And the pipeline that now crosses the Mississippi River in northern MN, a river that provides drinking water and irrigation for many millions further south and violates Treaty rights of the White Earth native people. Can’t even think about the damage from a potential leak. Not to mention carbon emissions since its tar sands oil that flows through that pipeline.
So much to do but again really grateful to come celebrate a win! Thank you so much for your truly extraordinary efforts!
2023 is the year we all get sane again. (Just so you’re the first to know)
Wishing you a kite to fly and sunshine over your shoulder and good food and sweet health and joyous surprises and new roads and adventures to write home about. Blessings to you and your kin Bill. Love ya.
The only way we'll ever stop the evils of big business and big government is by standing together. Since both businessmen and politicians have long lost their connections to Earth and the little man, stand we must. I loved Red Auerbach. I think KC Jones said once the first thing he learned at Red's basketball camp was to pull on an opponent's jersey without being seen by the ref. As hilarious and competent as Red was as a coach and GM, Bill Russell was twice that as a human being. RIP.
Organizing works. Never forget.
just so
Yay! Important to celebrate whe never we can (even if what we celebrate is usually stopping something heinous). Thanks Bill
terrific work, everyone...

such fun to get to hang with your crew today!
God bless everyone who worked to this end.

Bill Russell, the ultimate winner!

Bill, mega thanks to you for your amazing climate leadership!
As my 108 y.o. grandmother used to say, "Nothing better!"
Great article, Bill, and great the way you keep giving credit where it is due--to all of us climate activists! La Lucha Continua...
I'll be including this win in my sermon this Sunday!
