Well.....MM is not the right person to go to about climate. His recent poorly researched and outdated hit piece on the climate fight permanently tarnished his reputation. Of course we always need to strive to tell more effective stories, and blend optimism with stark warnings about existential threats. I think Bill does a damn good job of including both elements in his writings. The harsh reality is that we are in a very dangerous place - look at the elevated desperation voiced and acted upon by climate scientists who live with actual real time data about where we are right now. Some things cannot and should not be sugar coated. The world is on fire and drastic steps need to be taken to quell the flames.

Your Ukrainian friend is calling for Russian diplomats to be detained and submitted to the international criminal court. Putting aside whether they are deserving of this treatment or not, let us consider what would happen if she got her way. This would immediately trigger World War 3, as Russia would not willingly submit to an international criminal court, much like the US would never allow war criminal George W Bush to be detained or tried, as he should be.

World War 3 between Nato allies and Russia has a high likelihood of ending in nuclear armageddon. So your enthusiastic and self-righteous Ukrainian friend disrupted a climate conference to call for policies that would likely lead to killing every human and living creature on planet earth. I find this hilariously ironic.

Ah good, reprinting more inflammatory rhetoric about how Putin must be defeated at all costs; neo-cons would applaud your efforts. Here are some clips of neo-con statements so you can get to know your foreign policy allies better.

"It is important that Western aid keep flowing. [...] it allows the United States to debilitate one of its key global adversaries [...] without risking the life of a single American serviceman or servicewoman."

-Dilabor Rohac Senior Fellow American Enterprise Institute

"it is vitally important that the United States provide the assistance, military and otherwise to help Ukraine defend itself,"

-David Kramer of the George W Bush Institute

"Might not the successful liberalization of Ukraine, urged and supported by the Western democracies, be but the prelude to the incorporation of that nation into NATO and the European Union — in short, the expansion of Western liberal hegemony?”

-Robert Kagan, Co-founder of The Project for a New American Century

"Pleased to welcome the Head of Poland’s National Security Bureau

@JacekSiewiera to discuss transatlantic security. Together with our stalwart NATO Ally Poland, we continue to #StandWithUkraine."

-Victoria Nuland, Current Under-Secretary of State and former principal deputy foreign policy adviser to Vice President Dick Cheney

Perhaps it would be wise to reflect on how you and your histrionic Ukrainian friend ended up with the same views as the people who brought us the war in Iraq and Afghanistan.

No more sugar coating the Napalm that is being showered on Earth by most " business- as-usual" corporations!! Your grass fed beef is not gonna save us or the livestock industry! Just STOP with the meat addiction and eat plants. Good point on CCS; 10 % IS helpful, but I'm from Wyoming where the Governor & his cronies have been studying & hyping that tech while whining about the "War on coal" and simultaneously dragging their feet on every wind & solar project proposed in our state. Luckily progress has been made 'cause there IS money to be made!! If the STUPIDS in the fossil fuel industries and state legislature had embraced " Green Power" three decades or so ago we'd be miles ahead, $$$ ahead and all our roughnecks and miners would be working in(or already retired from) good jobs in the alternative energy sector.

Hi Bill I am a subscriber to your letter and avid believer in climate change and how we need to make major changes in our lives now to do save the earth. However you and most other progressives need to change your tune on how to motivate us. Please read this note about Michael Moorre and how he sees we need to tell stories, positive ones about how to change

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2022/nov/14/us-midterms-film-maker-michael-moore-blue-tsunami

maybe the world won't end as fast as you think, but we still need to change....I remember how the Exon Valdez was going to kill everything in Alaska for centuries....didn;t happen. But tell the story about how electric cars are better, cheaper, how clean air makes life so much easier to live, or how grass fed beef really does taste better. I think you would do a much better job getting change to happen
