I think 350.org should start petitions to media (the major ones at one time).using much more forceful language than I've seen in any that climate change must be headline news (because human extinction risk makes it to be.) Hearalding the cheapness now of sustainable energy and making sure the IRA is used that way. Asking them to Headline the environmental costs of private jets and they must tax them a lot, not give tax breaks. Headline the cost of war to ecosurvival, not say we need to spend even more to "make us secure". I will ask this of media watchdogs and other eco organizations. Petions to Governent offices also need to stop soft pedaling these issues.

“The tacky spaceport that is Dubai” 😂😂 I always appreciate a dose of humor with my climate news. Thanks for your excellence with both.

Mr. McKibben:

I know that I am a "free" subscriber -- because I cannot afford to pay for anything - being on SS and Disability living in Seattle WA - about the most expensive place in the US -- with rising VA payments each month for prescription - just to keep going a little longer.

And if you check your emails -- I sent you the answer to all of the crap that is coming out of the COP28.

It's called the POD MOD - and you have the information on it: -- you have the contacts that the info needs to go to: - -and you have the contacts that could fund it -- because I can't!

It appears likely that COP28 will accomplish little if anything. I'm not at all surprised. Throughout its history, the climate COP process has been mostly political theater. It troubles me to think about the quantity of fossil fuel emissions that result from each meeting.

Well, Big Oil is an easy target. But locally there are HOWLS of protest to proposals for 8% rise in electricity rates to cover the infrastructure to get incrementally more wind, less coal on the grid. Every time I point a fat accusatory index finger at THEM, i notice that the three folded fingers in my palm are pointing back at me.
