The kids could save the planet if their elders and lawmakers would let them! And if they would give up fighting each other and legislate for the people who elected them. This brought tears to my eyes 👀; so much information. So many links to explore to find my focus to act now in addition to my vote. Thank you for this excellent resource.🥲🌎🕊️

When I was 22--not much older than these kids--I bicycled across Montana in July of 1975 on my way from Seattle to Boston. Back then, the air was pristine, and whatever the temperature was, the heat did not keep me from cycling as much as 80 miles in a day, and it did not keep me from racing a train that was going about 30 mph somewhere out in the Great Plains, and I have no recollection of being bothered by it. And I simply can't imagine heat transferring from the turf into my shoes and to my feet, as Kian T. recounted. If the kids are upset about losing something they love, I'm upset hearing about it, because I do love that state, and what they are describing is my idea of a nightmare, one that a person should be able to awaken from.

And the forest fires putting more CO2 into the atmosphere than the combustion--a global warming vicious cycle--spooks me.

Such real stories. Those young men and women rocked it. Well done!

It's a little before my time, but thanks to you and your friends, I can't help but see shades of the anti-apartheid movement of the 1970s and 1980s in the Montana suit. Real "loosing the bonds" vibes with this one.

Some of my favorite people, okey, you and Bob, are though. And I am somewhat saddened I wasn't. I grew up wishing I was, though.

Hey Bill, really appreciate all you do for so many of us, and so many of us who do not realize. Your work certainly does not go unthanked.

I find myself in a recurring conversation with climate change deniers, of all sorts, about the validity of the science. I am not as well versed as I should be and find myself wishing I could reference a short list of paramount material facts or studies on climate change and the times we find ourselves in. Do you happen to know of a synthesized article of the sort? Or would it be possible to help put one together for myself, and many others, who would love to help spread truth and spur discussion in our daily lives? Thank you!

Is there a US Greta Thunberg? Can we have youth sit-in blockades at financial institutions (such as the NYS Teachers Retirement System - NYSTRS)?

Also, is there a site that accepts non-professional art? I make political cartoons about pension funds that invest in destruction of the planet. NYSTRS claims it "serves" teachers. But aren't they the ones who prepare kids for a good future life? What hypocrisy!

The Biden administration's Dept of Justice has filed another motion to prevent Juliana v. United States, which U.S. District Court Judge Ann Aiken recently ruled would move to trial (more than two years after Our Children's Trust presented their argument for such a ruling). Contact Atty General Garland and urge him to allow the plaintiffs to present their evidence in court: https://www.ourchildrenstrust.org/dont-mandamus-us

I had read the awful truth about Reuters earlier in the week and promptly removed their app from my phone. But after reading your post, I realized I still hadn’t unsubscribed from their newsletter and promptly did so. Thanks, Bill!

"the lack of government direction." Yeah. I believe that.

Very nice story and Go Youth! But it needs to be noted that after the initial filing of Juliana, the Obama DOJ filed to dismiss the case and fought it all the way, just as the Trump DOJ continued to do. Sadly, Obama was not a climate defender despite his eloquent speeches.

Yes to supporting the voices of the youth still standing up while heavily burdened by Inter generational injustices! Thank you 🙌🏼

Among young climate leaders, something about Sunrise director Varshini Prakash's fashionista persona... rankles. I guess you wanna be in silk when you're talking with rich donors

I've known her for a decade, and I think the world of her. She walks the talk, she's incredibly effective, and she's a good soul; a hero.

Please don't use this comment section to launch attacks on people. Thank you.
